Precise and direct temperature measurement by ThermoJar system was successfully used, in tandem with synchrotron X-ray monitoring, to determine and rationalize thermal profiles in mechanochemical reactions. Authors established that each mechanochemical milling reaction has its own and unique thermal profile and have detected even rapid drops in temperature, which were directly correlated to changes in the reaction mixture composition. It was established that the interaction between the milling media and the milled material is dominant in establishing the bulk temperature of the reaction mixture, whereas the enthalpy of reaction plays minor role in that process.
